About Us
We are a family owned Australian company located on Victoria’s pristine
coastline in Torquay and conveniently is also on the door step to many amazing
riding hot spots. Reckless was established in 2016 by Shannon
McKay and family.
Reckless Race Concepts was started purely from having a passion for the
sport of Downhill Mountain Biking. Before the thought of starting Reckless I
loved racing DH, not only the racing but the community involved with the
sport. I was never the super-fast rider but loved pushing myself as much as
I could. In the end that was problem I was renowned for getting my abilities
mixed up with my ambitions and more often than not ended up in a hospital
bed. After fracturing my back and having to get my family to push me around in a wheelchair over the Christmas holidays I realised that it was time to take a
step back from racing before I seriously hurt myself. The problem was that I loved
the sport so much I needed something to keep me involved in mountain biking.
So, in 2015 we (My partner Amber and myself) decided to take a big
step and start an apparel company.
We spent many years researching apparel and manufacturing options until we
found the right fit for Reckless. In July 2016 the brand launched at the first
round of the Victorian Downhill Series at Shepparton and in October 2016 the
first Reckless Race team riders began to appear. After a year in Downhill we
expanded the brand to include BMX, which has been a great success.
2018 was the biggest year yet with the brand taking off nationally.
So far, for our Downhill race team consists of 3 Elite Men and 2 Elite Female
riders and have added 12 new brand ambassadors around Australia from both
BMX and MTB disciplines. We have also welcomed the the Reckless family
numerous BMX Teams around Australia.
Reckless also sponsors some of the major Victorian and National MTB events.
We take great pride in being able to give back to the MTB and BMX communities.
We are looking forward to the future of this great brand we have created and
are excited to see how the Reckless. brand will evolve.
