Reckless Event Update

Mansfield Delivers the goods

The Highline MTB Festival is held in the picturesque Mansfield, Victoria. The location provides stunning views over lake Eildon. The venue holds 2 slope style courses, a dual slalom course which is also used for the speed and style event and a Downhill course. The second slopestyle course and dual slalom course are added features for this years event providing an amateur slope style event, dual slalom and speed and style events.

Saturday brought on the main Slope Style competition with our own and local rider Gaelen Slaney representing Reckless. Gaelen has been working extremely hard behind the scenes for this event, not only for his riding but also with helping build the tracks for the event. We were all so stoked to see him come away with 3rd place. Gaelen is now concentrating on competing overseas and we look forward to supporting him throughout the journey.

Sunday was all about the DH event which saw the last round of the Victoria Downhill Series. We had 2 riders competing in this event, Darcy Coutts in Elite Men and Jess Sherridon in Elite Woman.

With Jess unluckily missing most of the VDHS season due to an injury early on in the season this weekend at Mansfield saw her comeback stronger than ever and take out the win. The Reckless Team and her family couldn't be more proud of her.

Coming off a 4th place in the Oceania's in Queensland the week before, Darcy Coutts was keen to continue with his podium streak at this event. Due to a major crash from one of the elite competitors early into the race run the race was cancelled. Intern seeding results were used for the results in which Darcy took home second place.  A fantastic result for continuing the podium run for Darcy.

With the Vic series now done and dusted for another year, we would like to say a huge thankyou to all of the volunteers and organisers that make this awesome series what it is. We always look forward to each round and hanging out with the fantastic people in the MTB community. Bring on next season...
